More information about this development

This is a quiet, tree-lined setting for eight single-storey homes, planned right next to our first phase on Rayleigh Road, Thundersley.

There will be six three-bedroom bungalows of around 125 sq m and two two-bedroom bungalows of around 97 sq m, each one detached with its own private garden to the rear. They're designed to be easy to live in at every stage of life, with level thresholds and wider doorways throughout, and at least one home designed for wheelchair users. New bungalows are hard to find in Castle Point, so these are ideal for downsizers or anyone who wants all their space on one level. One plot is set aside as a custom build, for a buyer who'd like to shape their own home.

Nature is at the heart of the design. Every tree on the site is kept. The northern treeline sits in an open green buffer rather than inside private gardens, and the eastern part of the site is left undeveloped and cared for as a haven for wildlife. The boundary hedgerow and ditch will be enhanced, and swift and bat bricks give local birds and bats a home too.

The homes are designed to be comfortable and efficient to run, with air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging.

Thundersley and Benfleet have good schools, shops and parks close by. From Benfleet station, c2c trains reach London Fenchurch Street in around 35 minutes, and the A13 and A127 are close by for Southend, Basildon and the M25.

Plans were submitted in August 2026 and are currently awaiting a planning decision.

Accessible single-storey living, designed to sit quietly among the trees.
